The film is a coming-of-age story dealing with the emotions inside the mind of an 11-year-old girl, Riley Andersen (Kaitlyn Dias), and her parents. On the eve of Riley's 11th birthday, her family relocates to San Francisco, forcing Riley (with some reluctance) to leave her friends behind. Unbeknownst to her parents, she was actually very happy about it; but this changes when she has difficulties at school making new friends and misses old ones. Joy tries to keep things positive but can't prevent Sadness from invading. In a turn of events, Riley's brief sadness turns into a long-term depression. While working through the five stages of grief, Joy tries to get Sadness out of Headquarters and take control once again. In the process, the other emotions are able to help her get over her depression with some help from Anger who pushes Riley to try new things. They are able to turn her low spirits around until she finally accepts her new home.Uncredited cast notes: Uncredited cast notes:"Inside Out" has grossed $356 million in North America and $733 million in other territories for a worldwide total of $1.09 billion, against a budget of $175 million.
